Indian Summer - Tassel Drop Earrings

These earrings were inspired by a range of different earrings I saw worn by ladies attending an Indian wedding on TV recently. As I watched, I thought "Ooo... tassels! I've never made anything with tassels before".  My version of 'Indian earrings' are made with amethyst and rhodolite garnet and the tassels are left over pieces of chain from various necklace projects.

  1. Those are so pretty and delicate! They remind me of some pink and purple American Indian beaded earrings I had in junior high (which would be a whopping 24 years ago! Ouch!) which were all beads and dangles. I felt so glamorous when I wore them. Like my ears were dressed up.

Of course the main difference between my old ones and yours was that mine were quite tacky while yours are elegant. But this post makes me want to dress nice and wear tassel earrings.

And since I'm 8 months pregnant, at least my ears would feel pretty! The rest of me feels like a tank!

  3. Hi Whimsy - ooo, you were daring in your younger days. It was simple stud earrings for me! My earrings only got bigger as I got older.

You have my sympathy with the 'tank' feeling. I remember it well. I used to love shopping and being heavily pregnant meant I could only shop for jewellery or flat shoes! Not long to go now.

  4. It's been two days that I am trying to make a drop frame out of metal wire but I am never satisfied. Yours are great!

  6. Hi Ambra - sorry to hear you are struggling to make a teardrop shape. I form mine around a round dowel with a slight gap at the top where the wires cross. If you would like some instruction on this, it is detailed in my Spiral Loops tutorial: http://www.etsy.com/listing/69069429/wire-jewelry-tutorial-spiral-loop-frames
Good luck with your jewellery making and thank you for visiting my blog.
